Mehbooba urges Indian authorities to release APHC leader Altaf Shah on humanitarian grounds
Srinagar, October 01 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has urged the Indian authorities to release All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader, Altaf Ahmed Shah on humanitarian grounds as he is suffering from cancer.
The Indian infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA) in July 2017 arrested seven Kashmiri APHC leaders, including Altaf Ahmad Shah, in a false case. Other leaders are Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal and Shahidul Islam.
“Continued incarceration of Altaf Shah is inhumane as he is critically ill. Request the Indian government to release him on humanitarian grounds so that he can be with his family in such distressing times,” Mehbooba tweeted.
The PDP president was commenting on a tweet by Altaf Shah’s daughter. “My incarcerated father has been diagnosed with acute renal cancer which has metastasis and has spread to his other body parts, including his bones. It is my whole family’s request to please allow us to see him and consider his bail application on health grounds,” Ruwa Shah had tweeted.
