Islamabad, July 26 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Kashmir chapter Convener, Mahmood Ahmad Saghar has said that Kashmiri people have rejected the hoisting of Indian flag ceremony at Lal Chowk in Srinagar under the shadow of Indian guns.
Mahmood Ahmad Sagahr in a statement issued in Islamabad said that Indian army and police in civilian clothes participated in the flag-hoisting ceremony while thousands of soldiers were surrounding Lal Chowk.
“India cannot change the disputed reality of Kashmir through such cruel tactics,” he said and urged New Delhi to abandon its traditional intransigent policy on Kashmir and resolve the dispute by giving Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.
He regretted that more than one million Indian soldiers deployed in the occupied territory are involved in genocide of Kashmiris to change the Muslim majority status of Occupied Kashmir.
Despite heavy deployment of Indian troops, he said, Kashmiri leadership and the people continue to adhere to the mission of the martyrs. He said that lasting peace and stability cannot be established in South Asia without resolving the Kashmir issue. He demanded of the United Nations to take strict action against the atrocities being committed by Indian troops on innocent Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir.
