Delimitation panel order notified; Kashmir to have 47 Assembly seats, Jammu 43

New Delhi, May 05 (KMS): The Delimitation Commission constituted by Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian regime on Thursday submitted its duly signed final report to the BJP government and subsequently a gazette notification was issued showing the details of the re-drawn Assembly constituencies in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The delimitation panel, chaired by Justice (retired) Ranjana Prakash Desai, and also comprised of Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and the IIOJK Election Commissioner as ex-officio members, completed the exercise in two years.

Detailing the number of constituencies and their size, the commission has proposed increasing the number of seats in IIOJK from 83 to 90. Besides, there are 24 seats in Azad Kashmir that continue to remain vacant.

For the first time, nine seats have been proposed for Scheduled Tribes.

Formed in March 2020, the panel was granted a one-year extension last year.

To disempower the Muslim majority population of IIOJK, the panel has also proposed six additional seats for Hindu-dominated Jammu and only one for Muslim majority Kashmir Valley. As of now, the Kashmir division has 46 seats and Jammu division 37.
