All Parties Conference vows to launch drive to sensitize world on Kashmir

Islamabad, January 30 (KMS): Speakers at the All Parties Conference of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have hailed the historic struggle and sacrifices of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for freedom and expressed solidarity with them.

The conference was held at Kashmir House in Islamabad, today, and was presided over by Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Among those who attended the event included sitting AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, former prime ministers Raja Farooq Haider, Sardar Muhammad yYaqoob Khan and Sardar Atiq Ahmad Khan, senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, PPP President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, Leader of Opposition Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chief Organizer PML-N Shah Ghulam Qadir, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party President Sardar Hassan Ibrahim, Muslim Conference President Mirza Shafiq Jral, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami AJK Dr. Khalid Mahmood, former Amir JI AJK Abdul Rashid Turabi and Maulana Imtiaz Siddiqui of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

The speakers highlighted the current situation in occupied Kashmir and presented various suggestions. The conference decided to launch a full-fledged diplomatic and political campaign to make the world aware of the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference after the meeting, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry along with the leaders said that it was decided at the conference that mass demonstrations would be held in major cities of Pakistan and Muzaffarabad to draw the world towards the plight of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the sacrifices made by the people of occupied Kashmir were paying off. He said that due to the sacrifices of Kashmiris, the world has started paying attention to the Kashmir dispute.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Conference in a joint declaration of strongly condemned the August 5 measures, especially the Indian efforts to demoralize the population and change the Islamic and cultural identity of the occupied territory. It reiterated the principled position of the Kashmiri people that the future of the state of Jammu and Kashmir would be decided through a free and fair referendum in the light of UN Security Council resolutions.

The declaration called on the UN Secretary-General to address human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir in light of the recommendations of the 2018 and 2019 reports of the Human Rights Council to prevent human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and establish Commission of Inquiry to conduct a comprehensive and independent international inquiry into the allegations. It hailed the sacrifices of the deceased veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gilani for the Kashmir cause.
