People hold protests against admin in different areas


Jammu/ Srinagar, August 21 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, people held protest demonstrations in different areas of the territory on various issues.

Congress party staged a protest demonstration in Jammu against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Indian government. The protest was led by Gurmeet Singh, President Beopar Mandal and District General Secretary of Congress Jammu East. During the protest, he interacted with the locals and took stock of the problems being faced by them.

People blocked the Jammu-Pathankot highway in front of Government Medical College (GMC), Kathua, in protest against the killing of three teenagers by a rashly driven vehicle on Thursday night. The protestors blocked the highway for over one hour raising slogans and demanded immediate arrest of the driver responsible for the killing of teenagers.

Residents of Baramulla’s old town protested against the Power Development Department (PDD) for raising monthly rates, demanding that the tariff spike be reversed immediately.

Farmers also held a protest demonstration under the aegis of Border Kisan Union outside the Tehsil office in Ramgarh area of Samba district against the electricity department for unscheduled and long power outages. Mohan Singh Bhati, president of Border Kisan Union, who was leading the protest, said that due to lack of electricity, the paddy crop has turned pale forcing the farmer to commit suicide. He said that the farmers have not received the compensation for the crop that was damaged during last season.
