Elderly man, minor boy drowned in Bandipora


Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an 80-year-old man and a minor boy died in two separate incidents in Bandipora district.

the 80-year-old man, Ghulam Mohammad Duonto, slipped into river Jehlum while performing ablution at Banger Mohalla in Hajin area of the district on Thursday morning. Soon after the incident, locals and police rushed to the spot and immediately launched searches to trace out the body. After hectic efforts, the body was retrieved from the water body.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy, Sajad Shabir Shiekh, drowned while taking bath in river Jhelum in Asham Zoonipora area of the district.Those accompanying the boy raised an alarm, following which a rescue operation was launched jointly by police assisted by locals, to rescue the drowned minor. However no trace of the boy was found, when this report was filed.

On the other hand, a driver was killed while four other persons sustained injuries when a van skidded off the road and fell into deep nallah at Zamorpattan in Uri area of Baramulla district on Thursday.

The driver of the vehicle died on the spot while the injured were immediately rushed to Government Medical College Baramulla hospital for treatment where from one among them was referred to Mohra Hospital.
