Protesters block road against anti-people policies of Indian authorities in IIOJK

Srinagar: Tensions escalated in Kupwara district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir after residents took to the streets, blocking the Kupwara-Karnah road in a protest against the anti-people policies of the the authorities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest demonstration, primarily led by women, was a response to the authorities’ apathy towards the provision of amenities including water and electricity to the people of the district.

Dozens of vehicles were stranded as protesters gathered on the road, chanting slogans the occupation authorities. The demonstrators, expressing their frustration, emphasized the dire circumstances they were facing due to the prolonged water scarcity and power loadshedding.

The protesting women said the authorities have miserably failed to provide water supply to over a hundred households. “In fact, they have taken us on a ride, forcing us to register our protest.” said one of the protesters.

In response to the protest, a police party arrived at the scene to pacify protesters, who later dispersed peacefully.
