Srinagar: The Narendra Modi-led Indian regime has issued warnings to news portals and social media pages in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir to “adhere” to policy guidelines introduced by the regime in 2021 to tame the media in the territory.
The warnings were issued by local authorities wherein all online news portals and social media pages were ordered adhere “to the Code of Ethics outlined in the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021”.
“This mandate aims to regulate the publication of news and current affairs content, emphasizing verification and accountability,” the order said.
Any violation of this order may lead to punitive action under the Indian Penal Code and other relevant legal provisions.
The order shall come into force with immediate effect and any violation of this order shall invite punitive action under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860, and other relevant legal provisions, read the order.
