Srinagar: President of Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti has launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi led Hindutva government of India over the current situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, stating that New Delhi’s jackboot approach is bound to fail.
The PDP chief addressing a day-long workers’ convention in Zainpora area of Shopian, today, said that the only way to bring about lasting peace in IIOJK was through reconciliation and meaningful engagement that honours the dignity of the Kashmiri people.
She said, “The jackboot approach and attempts to silence the aspiration of people by suppression and muzzling hasn’t worked in the past and is bound to fail now”.
She added, it is evident that Delhi looks at Kashmiris with suspicion even after almost eight decades of the so-called Instrument of Accession was executed between India and J&K.
Referring to the recent police action to book seven Kashmiri students under the draconian Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Mehbooba Mufti said, “This incident shows that the BJP has even criminalised the spirit of sports when it comes to Kashmir.”
