Magisterial inquiry into custodial death of youth in Poonch
Jammu: The District Magistrate, Poonch, Yasin M Choudhary has ordered a magesterial inquiry into the death of a youth in police custody in Poonch district.
The youth identified as Ulfat Hussain was killed in police custody. However, police claimed that the youth committed suicide in in Surankote Police Station lock-up.
The family members of the deceased had requested for a thorough investigation into the case. They also demanded a magisterial probe into the circumstances which led to the death of the youth in police custody.
In view of the request from the family and report of the SDM Surankote, the District Magistrate Poonch directed Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mendhar, Mohammad Jahangir Khan to hold an inquiry into the matter and submit report.
