Pakistan PM urges UN to implement its resolutions, says Kashmir key to India-Pakistan peace
United Nations: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has urged the UN Security Council (UNSC) to secure the implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir, which, he said, is the key to peace between Pakistan and India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Prime Minister in his address to the United Nations General Assembly session in New York tonight said Pakistan Pakistan desires peaceful and productive relations with all neighbours and Kashmir is the key to peace between Pakistan and India.
“Development depends on peace. Pakistan is situated in one of the least economically integrated region in the world. Pakistan believes that region develops together. Therefore Pakistan desires peaceful and productive relations with all our neighbours including India. Kashmir is the key to peace between Pakistan and India,” he said.
The Prime Minister said, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest disputes on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council. He said India has evaded the implementation of the Security Council resolutions which call for the final disposition of the Jammu and Kashmir to be decided by its people through the UN-supervised plebiscite.
Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar pointed out that since 5th August 2019, India has deployed 900,000 troops in IIOJK ‘to impose the ‘final solution of the Kashmir’. To this end, he said, India has imposed extended lockdowns and curfews, jailed all genuine Kashmiri leaders, violently suppressed peaceful protests, resorted to extrajudicial killings of innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters and so-called cordon and search operations, and imposed collective punishments by destroying entire villages. He said that access to occupied Kashmir demanded by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and over a dozen Special Rapporteurs has been denied by New Delhi.
Referring to the Indian atrocities in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir especially ever since 5th August 2019, the Prime Minister called upon the UN Security Council to ensure the implementation of its resolutions on Kashmir dispute. He suggested the UN Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan be reinforced. He also said that the global powers should convince New Delhi to accept Pakistan’s offer of mutual restrain on strategic and conventional weapons.

He stated that the global powers should convince New Delhi to accept Pakistan’s offer of mutual restrain on strategic and conventional weapons.
The Prime Minister said, “We must counter all terrorists without discrimination including the rising threat posed by the far-right extremist and fascist groups such as Hindutva inspired extremists threatening genocide against Indian Muslims and Christians alike.”
We also need to oppose state terrorism, address the root cause of terrorism such as poverty, injustice and foreign occupation and distinguish genuine freedom struggles from terrorism, he added.
Pakistan is the true advocate of Kashmiris engaged in a peaceful struggle to secure their right to self-determination. Pakistani leadership has always raised the Kashmir dispute at every regional and global forum and exposed the brutalities being perpetrated by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir before the world. Pakistan has to face India’s aggression for advocating the Kashmir cause. Kashmiris rightly consider Pakistan as their true advocate at the global level.
