OIC condemns continued Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir

Jeddah: A congregation of representatives of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Jeddah has condemned persistent atrocities of Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The congregation, organised by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative in OIC Ambassador Syed Fawwad Sher, reiterated that India should reverse all illegal and unilateral measures taken on or after 5 August 2019 while asking the Indian government to pay its attention to the human rights situation in the territory.

Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha’s message related to the Kashmir dispute was read out to highlight gross human rights violations in Kashmir. He recalled that during the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in March this year in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the Council urged India to stop the gross, systematic and widespread human rights abuses in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Taha described meaningful engagement and dialogue among all parties to the Kashmir dispute along with the involvement of the international community as essential steps in the resolution of the protracted conflict between India and Pakistan.
