Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders, Khadim Hussain and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qummi, have said that Indian rulers, through their baseless and contradictory statements, cannot change the internationally acknowledged disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Hurriyat leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar termed as extremely absurd the recent statement of the so-called Lieutenant Governor of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, in which he called Azad Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India. They said that Jammu and Kashmir has never been a part of India while New Delhi has occupied a large part of the territory militarily in 1947 against the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The leaders said that India has not been able to suppress the freedom sentiments of Kashmiris despite the wanton atrocities, and added that New Delhi was fighting a lost battle in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Hurriyat leaders said that India should recognize the ground realities of occupied Jammu and Kashmir and give Kashmiris their birthright, right to self-determination according to the United Nations resolutions, so that the dream of long-lasting peace and development in the region can be realized.
