Srinagar, March 02 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly denounced the custodial killing of an innocent civilian from Kunanposhpora area of Kupwara district by the Indian Army.

The civilian, Abdul Rashid Dar, was abducted by the Indian Army on December 15, last year. His dead body was found in Zurhama forest area of the district, yesterday. People staged forceful demonstrations in the hometown of Rashid Dar after his dead body was handed over to his family by the Indian police, last evening. The protesters raised high-pitched anti-India slogans and demanded punishment to the Indian troops involved in Rashid Dar’s abduction and subsequent killing in custody.

APHC leaders, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Khadim Hussain and Sibte Shabbir Qummi, in their statements issued in Srinagar said the killing of innocent youth in custody and fake encounters by Indian troops has become a routine matter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They urged the international community to take cognizance of the war crimes being perpetrated by the troops in the occupied territory.

Peoples Democratic Party president, Mehbooba Mufti, in a tweet said that what transpired after the Army picked up Abdul Rashid for questioning months ago is anybody’s guess. She said in absence of any accountability such incidents have been normalised after 2019.

Meanwhile, India’s dreaded National Investigation Agency attached, today, the ancestral house of prominent liberation leader, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar, in Nowhatta area of Srinagar. Mushtaq Zargar has been actively voicing for the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the past several years. The local residents talking to media men said the small house is not of Mushtaq Zargar but is owned by his father and sisters who are facing the Indian state terrorism since decades.

Democratic Freedom Party in a statement in Srinagar expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, and other Hurriyat leaders languishing in different jails of IIOJK and India. It said political victimization and other brutal tactics employed by the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue their freedom struggle.

Regional political parties National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party and Communist Party of India Marxist staged separate demonstrations in Jammu city to protest against the imposition of property tax in the territory by the authorities. The protesters demanded immediate rollback of the decision.
