Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission holds protest demo in Islamabad
Rawalpindi February 11 (KMS): Kashmir Martyrs’ Day was observed under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission in Islamabad, today.
A protest was held outside the National Press Club, Islamabad, in which leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir, representatives of civil society and a large number of youth participated in the demonstration.
The purpose of observing this day is to pay tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Muhammad Afzal Gaur, Syed Ali Gilani, Burhan Muzaffar Wani and Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai.
APHC-AJK Convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, General Secretary Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Ijaz Hussain Lone, political and social leader Sardar Muhammad Siddique and others addressed the protest demonstration.
Mehmood Ahmed Sagar said that the purpose of paying homage to the martyrs is to enlighten the young generations about their sacrifices and to reiterate the determination to follow in the footsteps of these martyrs.
He urged India to return the bodies of Shaheed Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Afzal Gaur to Kashmiris so that they can be buried in Srinagar.
Ejaz Hussain Lone said that the freedom movement of Kashmir has been going on for the last several decades and lakhs of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives and now their third and fourth generations are facing Indian oppression.
Sheikh Abdul Mateen said that Kashmiri martyrs sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their homeland. These are the great martyrs whose every moment of their life was spent in the service of their people and they raised the word of truth in front of the usurping army, he added.
Sardar Muhammad Siddique said India is a brutal enemy who massacred Kashmiris to stop their freedom movement and deprive them of their right to self-determination. It must be held accountable for its war crimes, he maintained.
