London, December 01 (KMS): All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter leader Ms Shamim Shawl was invited to a global conference organised by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), United Kingdom.
The conference was an attempt calling for justice to the suffering women due to sexual violence and rights violations against children.
The women leaders who participated in the conference included Nobel Peace prize laureate Ms Nadia Murad, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Donika Gervalla and others.
In the conference issues concerning women in the conflict zones were highlighted.
Prime minister’s special representatives, David Miliband, Lord Tariq Ahmed and Nadine Tunasi were the main speakers in the conference.
Political declaration declared that sexual violation in conflict zones should be eliminated and governments should discharge their constitutional duties but India did not sign this political declaration.
Barrister Margaret Owen, Chairperson, Widows for Peace, emphasised the UK government not to sell arms to those countries who are the perpetrators of sexual violence in the conflict zones like IIOJK.
“We distributed literature on human rights violations by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and interacted with different country representatives and NGOs working in conflict zones,” Shamim Shawl said,
