Delhi pogrom: Court to hear bail pleas of Muslim activists in UAPA case
New Delhi, Nov 22 (KMS): The Delhi High Court has decided to hear several bail pleas in the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) cases related to northeast Delhi pogrom.
Dozens of human rights defenders and Muslim activists have been languishing in jail under draconian charges in the case since 2020 while some of the booked have already been granted bails.
The High Court special bench comprising Justices Siddharth Mridul and Rajanish Bhatnagar said that it will hear the matters daily post-lunch from next week.
The same bench on October 15 dismissed the appeal of prominent activist Umar Khalid against the trial court order denying bail to him.
