Massive protests in Kargil’s Drass area against mosque inferno incident
Kargil, November 17 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a massive protest erupted in Drass area of Kargil, today, against the authorities’ failure to set up a fire station in the area. Notably, a massive fire broke out at a prominent mosque in the area the other day, damaging most of the structure.
Qadeem Hanfia Jamia Masjid’ was gutted in a fire incident late Wednesday evening. Locals said that the fire could have been doused in time if there would have been any fire station in the Sub-Division, Drass.
A large population of Drass hit the road on Thursday morning and demanded that a fire station should be established in the area. The protesters said that authorities didn’t learn any lesson from the past fire incidents and ignored the repeated requests of people.
Following the burning of the mosque, Chairman of Ladakh Hill Development Council, Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan visited the area and expressed sadness over the unfortunate fire incident. He castigated the authorities for failing to provide fire tenders at sub divisional level in Kargil. He added that the fire and emergency department of Ladakh has failed to protect properties of people in fire incidents.
