UP govt razes AIMIM leader’s hotel in Bareilly

Bareilly, November 12 (KMS): The Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh bulldozed a luxurious hotel of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Taufeeq Pradhan.

Gautam Singh, an official of BDA, claimed that Taufeeq Pradhan built a two-story illegal Dhaba/restaurant in an area of roughly 700 square meters under the Bareilly development area, on the bypass in the green belt near village Kacholi, without the consent of the Authority.

Taufeeq Pradhan, who was enraged by this action, said the government is punishing him for being a Muslim. The AIMIM leader said that his hotel was demolished despite being built outside the green belt.

He also claimed that he was not even served notice before the BDA demolished the property. He said that the BDA is claiming that they sent him the notice in 2015, but the hotel was constructed in 2016. He said he is being targeted because he is contesting the assembly elections from Chainpur constituency.
