China’s stance on Kashmir dispute unnerves India

New Delhi, November 03 (KMS): China’s consistent support to Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir dispute has unnerved India.

Chinese side in a joint statement issued at the conclusion of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s two-day visit to the country reiterated the settlement of the Kashmir dispute under United Nations resolutions. The joint statement maintained that a peaceful and prosperous South Asia is in the common interest of all parties.

The Pakistani side briefed the Chinese side on the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Chinese side reiterated that the Kashmir issue was a dispute left from history that should be properly and peacefully resolved based on the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements.

India on Thursday rejected references to Jammu and Kashmir in a China-Pakistan joint statement during Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Beijing.

Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi, in a statement issued in New Delhi said the references to the Kashmir dispute as “unwarranted”.

He once again parroted India’s old mantra that Jammu and Kashmir is integral part of India, despite the fact that it is a UN-recognized disputed territory illegally occupied by New Delhi.
