Ladakh protests in support of rights
Srinagar, November 02 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Kargil and Leh districts of Ladakh region are holding protests today in support of long pending demands.
Call for the protests was given at a joint meeting of Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) – an amalgam of different political and religious parties – and Leh Apex Body (LAB) – a conglomerate of Leh’s socio-religious and political parties – held last week in Leh. The demands include statehood to Ladakh and early recruitment for the youth.
Addressing a press conference in Kargil, KDA leader Asgar Ali Karbalaie said the protest is being held as the Indian govt has failed to fulfill their demands. He said, protests will be intensified across Ladakh and this will make BJP government realise that Ladakhi people will not rest until their demands are not addressed.
The KDA and the Apex Body have created a core group that would formulate the future strategy for attaining their demands.
