Rahul says Modi talks about respecting women but in reality supports rapists

New Delhi, October 18 (KMS): Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, has said that although Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, talks about respecting women but supports rapists in reality.

Rahul Gandhi’s was reacting to the disclosure of BJP government in Gujarat that the Indian Central government led by Narendra Modi approved the release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano rape case.

Rahul Gandhi in a tweet, today, said, “He (Indian PM) talks about women respect from Red Fort, but in realty he is with the rapists. Difference between Prime Minister’s promises and intentions are clear. He has only cheated women.”

Eleven Hindutva members were sentenced to life imprisonment for gang raping the Muslim woman Bilkis Bano and murdering seven members of her family during the anti-Muslim riots in Gujarat in 2002.

The Gujarat BJP government filed an affidavit on Monday in response to the petitions challenging the remission granted to the convicts in Bilkis Bano case. In the affidavit, the Gujarat government maintained that it decided to release the 11 Hindu men convicted in the case as they had “completed 14 years and above in prison… their behaviour was found to be good” and the Union had also “conveyed (its) concurrence/ approval”.
