New Delhi, September 27 (KMS): Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation has said that the raids on the Muslim organization, Popular Front of India (PFI), is a conscious attempt by Narendra Modi government to spread Islamophobia among the public and demonise Muslims as a community.
The CPI(ML) in a statement said, “In the criminal cases against the PFI which, except bare allegations, have no reference to any actual incident or crime.”
The India-wide crackdown on the Muslim body and its office bearers continued on Tuesday as well, during which more than 90 people linked with the PFI were detained or arrested in raids across six states.
Conducted mostly by state police teams, the raids were spread across Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Maharashtra, Assam and Madhya Pradesh.
On September 22, India’s multi-agency teams spearheaded by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested 106 leaders and activists of the PFI in 15 states including its national chairman and prominent Muslim figures on the false charges of supporting terror activities in the country.
