Anti-India demo held outside UNHRC headquarters in Geneva

Geneva, September 22 (KMS): An anti-India protest demonstration was held outside the headquarters of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, the capital of Switzerland, to draw attention of the international community towards the Indian state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The demonstration was organized by Kashmiri delegation attending the ongoing 51st session of the UNHRC and Tehreek-e-Kashmir Europe. The protesters were holding banners and placards with slogans like “India stop state terrorism in Kashmir”, “Indian Army – stop pellet firing in Kashmir” and “Kashmiris want freedom”.

Addressing the protesters, the speakers appealed to the UNHRC session and the world community to take cognizance of the the Indian military repression, custodial killings, mass destruction of properties, restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression as well as religious and civilizational aggression by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

They also expressed solidarity with the victims of Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory and condemned the arbitrary detention of Kashmiri political leaders, religious scholars and human rights defenders. They called upon the UNHRC and other world human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to play their role in the release of the Kashmiri detainees. The speakers included PPP AJK President, Ch Muhammad Yasin, Altaf Hussain Wani, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Mrs Shamim Shwal, Hassan Al-Bana, Advocate Parvez Ahmad and Faheem Kayani.
