Indian CBI exposes involvement of CRPF, police in SI recruitment scam in IIOJK
Srinagar, September 13 (KMS): In yet another mega corruption scam in the Indian forces, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said that a gang domiciled in Harayana, Indian police and Central Reserve Police Force were involved in the sub-inspector recruitment scam of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
An official of the CBI said that searches were conducting at 36 locations including at Jammu, Srinagar in IIOJK; Karnal, Mahendergarh, Rewari in Haryana; Gandhidham in Gujarat; Delhi; Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh and Bangalore in Karnataka as part of Investigation in the scam.
He said that the premises of former Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB), then controller of examination of JKSSB, gang members domiciled in Haryana, certain teachers, some serving/retired officials of Indian police including a DSP and paramilitary CRPF were searched in an on-going investigation. He added that incriminating documents and digital evidences were recovered during the searches.
CBI had registered a case on August 03 this year on the request of IIOJK authorities against 33 persons including then medical officer, BSF frontier Hqrs, Paloura; then member JKSSB; then under secretary, then section officer (both of JKSSB); ex-official of CRPF; ASI of police; owner of a coaching centre, Akhnoor; private company based at Bengaluru; private persons and unknown others on the allegations of irregularities in written examination for the posts of sub-inspectors in the police conducted by JKSSB on March 27, 2022. The results were declared on June 04. There were allegations regarding malpractices in the examination. The IIOJK authorities had constituted an Inquiry Committee to look into the same.
Investigation has revealed the alleged payment of Rs 20 to 30 lakh (approx) by willing candidates and their families to the accused for accessing the question paper before commencement of the examination.
In this regard, involvement of a gang domiciled in Haryana, certain teachers of IIOJK, some serving/retired personnel of CRPF, police and JKSSB has allegedly come to light, the CBI official said.
