People in Jammu take to streets against franchise to Indian citizens in IIOJK
Jammu, August 18 (KMS): People in Jammu staged protest demonstrations against the announcement by the Modi regime to include Indian citizens in voter lists of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The residents on Thursday took to the streets in Janipur in Jammu and burnt the copies of the latest order of the Indian Election Commissioner IIOJK chapter to include the non-locals in the voter list of Jammu Kashmir.
“The people of Jammu oppose the decision of the election commissioner. It is wrong. The decision should be reversed as soon as possible. This is unacceptable to Jammu and Kashmir. Article 370 was removed to disempower the people of Jammu. Now this order will further add to the disempowerment,” Sunil Dimple, a local activist said.
He demanded a repeal of the decision along with demanding that statehood be returned to Jammu Kashmir.
