Hunger strike in Kotbhalwal jail on killing of inmate by police in fake encounter

Jammu, Aug 18 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir; Indian police martyred a political prisoner in a fake encounter in Jammu district, resorting his fellow inmates at Kotbhalwal jail to hunger strike against his extrajudicial killing.

The police took the prisoner identified as Mohammad Ali Hussain out of Kothbalwal Jail Jammu and brought him to Toph Arnia area and killed him in the staged encounter.

“The Pakistani militant prisoner was killed in a firing incident at Toph in Arnia area in Jammu”, Indian police claimed.

The killing of Mohammad Ali Hussain at a location far away from the prison is yet another dastardly practice of extra-judicial killing of prisoners in fake encounters by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

Ali Hussain was arrested by Indian police in 2006 at Mysore in Benglure, India. Spending sometimes in different jails, he was finally moved to Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu. Yesterday, when he was being taken out of the jail in the name of remand, he told his colleagues that he would be martyred in a fake encounter. As news about his killing reached Kothbalwal jail, all the inmates went on hunger strike in protest against the brutal act of the Indian police.

This is the second extrajudicial killing of AJK prisoners as earlier one political prisoner, Zia Mustafa, from Rawalakot, was taken out of the Kothbalwal jail jammu and brought to forests in Poonch by the Indian troops and was subsequently killed in firing.

The Kashmiris appealed to the UN to take notice of the extrajudicial killings and hold India accountable for the war crimes being committed by its troops and police personnel in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
