Karnataka Killings: Muslim bodies slam BJP govt for discriminatory treatment
Dakshina Kannada July 31 (KMS) Muslim organisations have slammed the ruling BJP government for not providing compensation to the families of slain Muslim youth in Dakshina Kannada district of the Karnataka state.
BJP Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai visited the family of a slain Hindu Praveen Kumar Nettare and issued a cheque of Rs 25 lakh as compensation. The party had also given Rs 25 lakh separately to the victim’s family.
However, CM Bommai did not visit the Muslim family of victim Masood, who was killed by a Hindutva gang. The family of another victim, Mohammad Fazil, who was brutally killed by Hindutva goons after Praveen’s murder has also not received any compensation.
The Muslim Central Committee has decided to provide Rs 30 lakh compensation to the bereaved families of Masood and Fazil. The committee has slammed CM Bommai and ruling BJP for treating Hindus and Muslims with discrimination.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka unit stated that the ruling BJP is adopting a divide and rule policy. Its state chief Dr Mohammad Saad Belagami said that due to the discriminatory treatment of the ruling BJP, extremist organisations are getting empowered. The government should treat all communities on an equal basis, he said.
