Facts belie Modi regime’s ‘no Pandit left valley since Article 370 removed’ claim

Delhi, July 20 (KMS): In what contrary to the fact the Modi-led Indian government has claimed that no Kashmiri Pandit has migrated from the Valley since August 5, 2019, when Article 370 was removed and illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir lost its special status.

In reply to a question by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh, Indian Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai informed the Rajya Sabha today that “As per record, no Kashmiri Pandit reportedly migrated from Kashmir during said period (August 5, 2019 to July 9, 2022)”.

“Five Kashmiri Pandits and 16 others belonging to Hindu or Sikh communities were among the civilians killed during the period,” he added.

The BJP government’s claim is belied by some Pandit community members who threatened to appeal to international human rights organisations for asylum if the Modi government failed to relocate them from the Valley.

This clearly contradicts the Indian government’s claims that removing Article 370 brought peace to the territory.
