Kashmiris have kept freedom spirit alive by sacrificing their lives: President Arif Alvi

Islamabad, July 13 (KMS): President Dr Arif Alvi has said that the Indian aggression and the cheap tactics have neither succeeded in the past, nor would be able in the future to suppress the indigenous freedom movement of the Kashmiri people.

The president, in his message on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, today, paid rich tribute to the martyrs and brave people of Kashmir for their continuous freedom struggle. He said that Pakistan’s government and its people salute the determination of the Kashmiris who were martyred by Dogra imperialism on July 13, 1931.

Dr Arif Alvi said that the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day was also a reminder of the decades-old struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination. He said the people of Kashmir had been sacrificing their lives since generations and thus kept the spirit of freedom alive.

The president urged India to immediately stop human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and take measures for holding of an impartial plebiscite to enable the Kashmiri people to decide their fate by themselves.

Dr Arif Alvi also reiterated the Pakistan’s commitment to continue to support the Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom through diplomatic, moral and political means. He said Pakistan urges India to immediately stop human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and take steps for holding of free and fair referendum in Jammu and Kashmir as per UN resolutions.

He maintained that the resolution of Kashmir dispute as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people as well as the UN Security Council resolutions is inevitable for peace in the region.
