Safoora Zargar allowed celebrating Eid in hometown Kishtwar

New Delhi, July 06 (KMS): A Delhi court has allowed Kashmir student activist Safoora Zargar to visit her hometown Kishtwar in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Eidul Adha.

Safoora Zaargar, a Jamia Millia Islamia scholar, was detained by Indian police in the wake of the northeast Delhi riots.

Safoora is presently residing at her matrimonial home in Delhi, her counsel said. The festival of Eid-ul-Adha is to be observed on July 10.

“Since the hometown of the applicant and her husband is in Kishtwar, the festival of Eid-ul-Adha will have to be performed there only,” the scholar’s counsel submitted before the court.

The court in its order directed Zargar to share her location through Google maps to enable the Investigating Officer to verify her location. Allowing her visit from July 7 to July 31, the judge directed the applicant to join the further proceedings on August 1.
