New Delhi, June 14 (KMS): Two missing Indian soldiers have been presumably ‘washed away’ in a river in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, Indian army said.

The interesting element of the story is that the Anjaw district borders China on the north.

Naik Prakash Singh and Lance Naik Harender Singh belonged to Uttarakhand deployed at a forward post in Arunachal Pradesh, “are presumed to have fallen into a fast-flowing river near their post”, an Indian Army spokesperson said.

Intensive search operations have been on to trace them since May 28.

Despite extensive search and rescue operations, including aerial reconnaissance and tracker dogs being pressed into action, there has been no success so far. The search operations are continuing for the past two weeks.
