‘Snow clearance underway at Baltal track ahead of Amarnath Yatra’

Srinagar, May 13 (KMS): Almost 90 percent snow has been cleared from Baltal track leading to Amarnath cave in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir while work on the remaining portion is underway.

A government official told media that the 14 km road length which is the shortest track to Amarnath cave via Baltal in Ganderbal is almost through except snow clearance at one or two places. He said they will replace six vital wooden bridges with steel bridges for a smooth pilgrimage. Besides, three helipads for choppers from Baltal to the cave are also ready for carrying Hindu pilgrims.

The snow clearance on a portion of track from Sangam to Panchtarni is going on at full pace and will be made through within a week or so, the official said.

Besides the tile work on the path from Baltal to Domail has been completed and the work on extension up to Railpathri is also going on, he added.

Meanwhile, langer walas are also visiting the base camp in order to take stock of arrangements made for them by district administration.
