APHC-AJK pays tributes to Sehrai on his first anniversary

Islamabad, May 05 (KMS): A conference was organized by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad, today, to pay tributes to veteran Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on his first martyrdom anniversary. APHC-AJK Convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani chaired the conference.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai died in Indian custody in Jammu on May 5, last year.

The speakers on the occasion threw light on the life and struggle of the great martyred leader and condemned the Indian rulers for being arrested in critical condition. They said before that one of his sons was martyred by Indian troops.

APHC-AJK Convener Mohammad Farooq Rahmani in his presidential address said that during the detention of Sehrai Sahib, his treatment was criminally neglected and was deprived of medical treatment in Jammu jail but the passionate leader remained a statue of determination and perseverance.

The conference called upon the United Nations and other international bodies to prevent India from committing atrocities and human rights abuses in the occupied territory, take immediate steps to save the lives of detained Hurriyat leaders, release all political detainees, withdraw the Indian forces and resolve the Kashmir dispute in the light of relevant UN resolutions.

The conference also pledged to continue the freedom struggle till taking it to its logical conclusion.

Meanwhile, a rally was held in Muzaffarabad, today on the first martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Ashraf Khan Sahrai under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir.

A large number of people attended the rally and paid homage to their great leader besides carried placards and banners with words of appreciation for the sacrifices and tireless struggle of Shaheed Sehrai.

People participating in the rally were chanting slogans in favor of Islam, freedom, Ashraf Sehrai, other martyrs of Kashmir and marched from Burhan Wani Chowk to Gharipan Chowk.

Addressing the rally, speakers said that Muhammad Ashraf Sahrai was martyred during his incarceration in Udhampur jail due to lack of medical treatment facilities on 5th May, 2021.

They maintained that the martyrdom of Ashraf Sahrai during his detention is a proof of the nefarious conspiracy of the BJP government against Kashmiri Hurriyat leadership.

The speakers said that the Kashmiri people will remember Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai as a symbol of strongest resistance against the Indian occupation.

Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Majeed Mir, Sheikh Aqeel Rehman, Javaid Ahmed Mughal, Lateef Abassi, Hamza Shaheen,  Riyaz Ahmed Awan, Dr Monzoor, Aslam Awan, Muhammad Asif Makhdumi and others were also present on the occasion.
