Amid restrictions Kashmiris celebrating Eid with Pakistani brethren today

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): Following the announcement about sighting of Shawaal moon by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir along with their Pakistani brethren, today, amid tight restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities on main venues of congregational prayers in the territory .
No major congregational Eid prayers are taking place in big towns and cities including the famous Eid Gah and historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar in view of restrictions.
The decision about celebrating Eid followed an announcement by Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee in Pakistan last night. Then, announcements about Eid were made on loudspeakers in Masjids in the Valley, Monday night.
“I felicitate the people of J&K on the auspicious occasion of Eid and pray to Almighty Allah that this auspicious occasion be the harbinger of peace and prosperity for the entire J&K”, the top-cleric, Mufti Nasirul Islam said.
