Srinagar, April 19 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Awami Action Committee (AAC), has paid rich tributes to the eminent religious and political leader, Mufasir-e-Quran and Muhajir-e-Millat late Mirwaiz Maulana Muhammad Yousuf Shah (RA) on his 55th death anniversary for his historic, selfless and invaluable services to the people of the territory.
The AAC, while reiterating its commitment to take forward the mission of the revered late leader, termed Mirwaiz Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah (RA) as a great asset for the people of Kashmir and said he devoted his life towards spreading the message of Islam and continued to strive for a better life for the Kashmiri people with sincerity and honesty.
The late Mirwaiz (RA), along with his religious, da’wah, social and political efforts, performed an unforgettable service of conveying the message of God to the common people by writing the first translation and commentary of the holy Qur’an in his mother tongue which will be remembered till the Day of Resurrection, the AAC said.
The AAC lamented that on 17th Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, as a tradition, a memorial meeting for Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah (RA) used to be held at the historic Aali Masjid, Eidgah in Srinagar under the supervision of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq but due to nearly three years of illegal and arbitrary house detention of the Mirwaiz, the event could not take place.
However, it said, under the auspices of the Awami Action Committee, a prayer meeting was organised at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar before the Zuhr prayers, today, in which Qur’an recitation and prayers were offered for late Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah, his comrades, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq (RA) and all martyrs of Kashmir.
