Bengaluru, April 14 (KMS): An 18-year-old Muslim youth Amanulla Irfan was assaulted with a sword by a 30-year-old Hindutva activist Honnappa in the Indian state of Karnataka.
The incident took place in Tergaon village in Haliyal city of Uttar Kannad District of Karnataka on Wednesday evening. The attacker was returning from watching controversial movie “The Kashmir Files” and the motive behind the attack was the survivor’s Muslim identity.
Amanullah, who sustained severe injuries, was taken to a government hospital in Dharwad.
Based on Amanulla’s complaint, Haliyal Police registered an FIR under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the Hindutva activist.
“The Kashmir Files” is a propaganda movie depicting false facts about the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 1990s. Scholars and critics of Hindutva ideology have said that the film was made to incite anti-Muslim sentiment in India. The movie has been given tax-free run in BJP run Indian states of Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa and Tripura.
Meanwhile, Genocidal slogans and anti-Muslim chants were raised by Hindutva groups at “The Kashmir Files” screenings across India.
