Indian tribunal declares Zakir Naik’s IRF unlawful
New Delhi, March 31 (KMS): An Indian tribunal under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in its order confirmed the notification issued by the Indian authorities in November, last year, under various sections of the Act declaring renowned Muslim scholar, Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) as an “unlawful association”.
The Government of India had issued a Notification on 15 November 2021 imposing ban on the IRF for a period of five years with effect from the date of the aforesaid notification.
Zakir Naik had migrated to Malaysia in 2016 just before India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) started a probe against him.
