Jammu, March 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the casual labourers of various government departments held a protest demonstration in Jammu in support of their pending demands.
A large number of casual labourers, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Casual Labourers United Front assembled near Press Club Jammu and staged a demonstration. They shouted slogans in support of their pending demands.
The protesting workers were demanding regularization of their services, implementation of Minimum Wages Act and release of pending wages of the Casual Labourers.
The Special Police Officers of Village Defence Committees held a protest in Doda district of Jammu region against the recent decision of the Indian government to bring them at par with other members of VDCs. The protesters said that they had been serving as SPOs with VDC for the past 25-years but were deprived of all the benefits.
They said, according to the new decision they have been demoted and their honorarium has been reduced to Rs 4500/ per month. Instead of absorbing us permanent employees of the police department we have been designated as volunteers, they said.
