Shutdown in IIOJK on Afzal Guru’s martyrdom anniversary tomorrow

Srinagar, February 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed, tomorrow, to mark the 9th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru.

According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the strike has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Massrat Aalam Butt, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and supported by all other Hurriyat leaders. They have also called for complete strike on Friday on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of another prominent liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt.

India had hanged Muhammad Afzal Guru in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on 9th February in 2013 and Muhammad Maqbool Butt in the same jail on 11th February, 1984, for their role in Kashmir freedom movement. Their bodies are buried in the premises of the jail.

Meanwhile, posters appeared in different areas of the occupied territory, urging the people to observe complete shutdown on February 9 and 11 to m=pay homage to Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt on their martyrdom anniversaries.
