APHC-AJK pays homage to Gaw Kadal martyrs

Islamabad, January 21 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in a meeting in Islamabad, today, paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal on their martyrdom anniversary.

Indian troops had martyred more than 50 innocent people in Gaw Kadal area of Srinagar on this day in 1990 by opening indiscriminate fire on the demonstrators protesting against the molestation of several women by troops, the previous night.

The APHC-AJK leaders, terming the tragedy as the worst kind of state-terrorism, said that the memory of Gaw Kadal bloodbath was still fresh in the minds of the people of Kashmir. Despite the passage of 32 years, justice continues to elude the victims of Gaw Kadal massacre victims, they added.

Expressing solidarity with the victim families, the APHC-AJK leaders said that the blood of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste. They said that the Modi-led fascist Indian regime is committing grave human rights violations in the occupied territory.

The Hurriyat leaders deplored that India wanted to change the Muslim majority status of IIOJK into a minority by permanently settling the Indian citizens in the territory but the people of Kashmir would foil all such conspiracies of the Modi government. They said that the people of Kashmir were sacrificing their lives for a great purpose and India could not suppress the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement through such tactics.

The APHC-AJK leaders urged the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to stop state terrorism in IIOJK and settle the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the resolutions of the World Body and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
