Srinagar, January 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, posters have been pasted in Srinagar and other areas of the territory, today, calling for a complete strike on January 21 to pay tributes to the Gawkadal martyrs.
The massacre took place on January 21 in 1990, when Indian Central Reserve Police Force personnel fired upon a peaceful procession when thousands of people started marching towards Qarfali Mohalla where Indian armed forces had molested dozens of women during the intervening night of 20 and 21 January 1990.
At least fifty civilians were killed and over hundred people were injured by Indian forces on January 21 in 1990 at Gawkadal in Srinagar.
The posters pasted by “Jammu and Kashmir Sada-e-Mazloom” have appealed the people of the territory to attend the prayer meeting to be held in Basant Bagh, area of Gawkadal, after Friday prayers on January 21 to pay tributes to the martyrs of Gawkadal.
The posters have also urged people to hold prayer meetings in other mosques on the same day.
