Srinagar, January 03 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has said that she will write to Home Minister of India to ensure the release of Srinagar youth from India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Arsalan Feroz, a 19-year-old youth from Zaldagar, Srinagar, was arrested by NIA recently. The NIA in its official statement claimed that Arsalan was an over-ground worker, however, his family staged protest, terming the charges baseless.
Mehbooba Mufti said that the family members of Arsalan, including his father, who has recently suffered a minor heart attack, came to meet her and vouched for his innocence.
“Arsalan is 19 years old who had earlier been arrested by police on 21st October last year. After spending over 40 days in police detention, he was cleared by police and accordingly released. I don’t know why the NIA arrested him, though family handed him over to the agency,” Mehbooba Mufti said.
Mehbooba Mufti said that since police have no jurisdiction over NIA and the probe agency directly falls under the India Home Ministry, she will write to the Home Minister of India about it.
