Srinagar, December 11 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leader and the President of Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Masroor Abbas, has said that India is committing egregious violations of human rights and has usurped all basic freedoms of the people of the territory.
Masroor Abbas in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights bound the member states of the World Body to abide by the declaration but unfortunately India was grossly violating it. He deplored that even the religious rights of the Kashmiri Muslims had been snatched.
The Hurriyat leader said that the historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar had been continuously locked for the last two and a half years where Friday prayers and other religious activities were not allowed. He added that the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, had been under illegal house arrest since August 5, 2019 while other Hurriyat leaders and activists had been lodged in jails of India and the territory for last several years.
Masroor Abbas demanded of the United Nations and international human rights bodies to take notice of rights abuses by Indian troops in the occupied territory.
