New Delhi, November 17 (KMS): The police in India state of Gujarat have booked nine people, including one based in London, in connection with conversion of over 100 tribals from 37 families of the “Vasava Hindu” community to Islam. All those who have embraced Islam are residents of Kankariya village in Amod taluka of the Bharuch district.
The police accused that Haji Abdul, who is currently residing in London, for collecting funds from abroad to convert the tribals to Islam. Eight others against whom FIR has been registered are local residents.
The nine persons were charged under the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, as well as Sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 153 (B)(C) (act likely to cause disharmony), and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, police said.
