Glowing tributes paid to Jammu martyrs of November 1947
Srinagar, November 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to the Jammu martyrs of November 1947 and reiterated the Kashmiris’ resolve that sacrifices of the martyrs will not be allowed go waste.
According to Kashmir Media Service, hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were massacred by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region while they were migrating to Pakistan during the first week of November in 1947.
The Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League, Abdul Ahmad Parra, in a statement in Srinagar, paying glowing tributes to the Jammu martyrs of November 1947 appealed to the United Nations and other human rights organisations to take notice of such carnages by Indian troops in the occupied territory and settle the lingering dispute for establishment of permanent peaces in the region.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mahaz-e-Azadi President, Mohammad Iqbal Mir and Tehreek-e-Istiqlal Chairman Ghulam Nabi Waseem in their statements, paying rich tributes to the Jammu martyrs, said they were massacred by Hindu extremists under a conspiracy to change the Muslim majority of the region into a minority. The massacre of half a million Muslims changed the Jammu region into a Hindu majority, they deplored.
The Chairman of United Peace Alliance, Mir Shahid Saleem, speaking at a special programme organized in Jammu to mark the Jammu Martyrs Day said that the cold-blooded murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent and unarmed Muslims at the hands of fascist forces was the worst example of ethnic cleansing in the human history. He said what hurts more is that no action was taken against those communal forces, responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims. He added that the best tribute to the victims of Jammu massacre would be to strive for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The Islamic Political Party Chairman, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash at a meeting in Srinagar termed sacrifices of Jammu Muslims as a precious asset of Kashmir freedom movement. He said, “We are custodians of the martyrs’ mission and only by evicting India from Kashmir can fulfill their mission. India, under a well-organized conspiracy, brutally demonstrated its nefarious intentions by killing nearly lacs of innocent Kashmiris under the supervision of the then administration through its terrorists.”
Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir, in a statement in Srinagar, paying homage to the Jammu martyrs said that the people of Kashmir had been offering unprecedented sacrifices for last seven decades for securing their right to self-determination promised by the UN and the Indian government.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Front spokesman in his statement said, “The massacre marks the beginning of systematic genocide and ethnic cleansing of Muslims.” The entire Muslim population was wiped out with a mala-fide intent to alter demography of Jammu region, he said.
The spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League in a statement in Srinagar deplored that hundreds of thousands of Jammu Muslims were targeted and systematically slaughtered and pushed to Pakistan by the conspiracy of RSS, Hindu regime and India during October and November 1947, when finally a gruesome massacre of Jammu Muslims was carried out on 6 November and as a result the Muslims became a minority in the region.
It’s unfortunate that neither an enquiry as per the Indian government’s announcement was conducted nor no individual, group or organisation or the authorities of the Hari Singh regime were charged or sentenced for such mass crimes, abductions and rapes of the innocent Muslims, he said.
The General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement (JKPRM), Dr Musaib Ahmad, in his statement in Srinagar said, the Jammu massacre was the first planned ethnic cleansing carried out by Dogra soldiers and RSS goons that day to convert the Muslim majority population of Jammu into a minority. He said the people of Kashmir have been rendering sacrifices since 1931 and will continue their freedom struggle till complete success.
The spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the November 6, 1947 massacre of Jammu Muslims as the worst tragedy. He said that the people of Kashmir would render any kind of sacrifice for securing their birthright to self-determination and appealed to the United Nations and the world community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Leader of Jammu and Kashmir Social and Justice League, Fatima Jan, in a statement in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir would never forget the victims of Jammu massacre of November 1947 and would accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs.
Meanwhile, the Acting Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, in a statement in Islamabad said the massacre of Muslims in Jammu in 1947 at the hands of Hindu fanatics was the most horrible incident of Kashmir history that continues to haunt Kashmiris despite the passage of more than seventy years.
Terming it as the worst example of genocide and ethnic cleansing, Saghar said that during 27 October 1947 to 6 Nov 1947 thousands of Muslims were massacred in Jammu region by mobs led by the extremist Hindus, whereas tens of thousands of hapless families were forced to flee and take refuge in newly formed state of Pakistan.
Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Istiqlal, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, and General Secretary, Abdul Hameed, in their statements said, this tragic and bloody chapter of Kashmir history can never be forgotten.
The Chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin, addressing a function in Muzaffarabad paying rich tributes to the Jammu martyrs of November 1947 said that their only crime was that they wanted accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan. He deplored that since 1947, more than 5 lakh Kashmiris have been martyred by Indian troops in the occupied territory but the world community has been watching a silent spectator.
The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Istiqlal Youth, Tanveer Durrani, in a statement said that the Muslims of Jammu had laid down their lives in the first week of November for a great cause and their unprecedented sacrifices would not be forgotten. He said that the Kashmiri people would continue their freedom movement till it reached its logical conclusion.
