People protest against disallowing of Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar, October 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, people staged a demonstration outside the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today, against the authorities for not allowing them to offer Juma prayers at the historic mosque.

The occupation authorities continued to deploy Indian troops and police personnel around the historic mosque and disallowed people to offer Juma prayers at the religious place.

Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid in a statement said, a large group of worshipers including women and children who had gathered outside the mosque strongly protested this authoritarian move of the authorities and demanded that they be allowed to go inside the mosque to offer prayers but to no avail.

The Anjuman Auqaf said the earlier pretext of COVID-19 pandemic by the authorities to prevent Muslims from offering Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid stands completely exposed today. It strongly denounced the authorities’ action and termed it interference in religious affairs of the Muslims.
