NC expresses concern over soaring unemployment in IIOJK

Srinagar, October 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference has expressed grave concern over the figures of Mumbai-based Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) on unemployment rate in the territory.

The CMIE data shows that the unemployment rate in IIOJ&K has jumped from over 13 percent in August 2021 to 21.6 percent in September.

The NC spokesman, Imran Nabi Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the 21.6 percent unemployment rate belies all the claims of the authorities on providing employment to educated, skilled youth of the territory. He said, the CMIE figures have exposed the underbelly of IIOJK on unemployment, adding the figures lay bare the hoax of much touted job extravaganza promised by the Indian government after the unconstitutional abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.

Contrary to the claims of New Delhi, he stated that post August 2019 decisions have been followed by marked and gross narrowing of job opportunities of IIOJK youth. He further said that the failure of the Modi-led Indian govt in addressing the soaring unemployment in IIOJK has become one of the factors for suicides and drug addiction. KMS—11A
