‘Gilani’s death deprives freedom movement of great leader’

Srinagar, September 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM) has said that the death of Syed Ali Gilani has deprived the Kashmir freedom movement and the people of the territory of a great leader.

The JKMM spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Syed Ali Gilani remained steadfast on his ideology till the last breath and the best way to pay tribute to the veteran Hurriyat leader was to continue his mission.

He said that the Indian authorities tortured the veteran Hurriyat leader, physically and mentally but he did not surrender before the oppressed India and stood like a rock and continued his struggle for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

The spokesman also denounced the authorities for forcibly snatching away the dead body of the veteran Hurriyat leader and imposing restrictions in the territory to prevent people from participating in the funeral prayers of Syed Ali Gilani.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Istaqlal, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt and Youth Wing leaders in a meeting thanked the government of Pakistan and political and religious parties for expressing solidarity with the people of IIOJK by offering funeral prayers in absentia across the country for the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani.

The participants of the meeting also thanked the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan for observing a day of official mourning and flying the Pakistan flag at half mast.

They also thanked the people and political and religious parties who joined the funeral prayers in absentia in all the cities of the country for the great leader of Kashmir freedom movement.
