Rahul Gandhi reaches IIOJK for two-day visit

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): Former Congress president, Rahul Gandhi on Monday reached Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir tor a two-day visit.

This is Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to the territory since the abrogation of Article 370.

He is scheduled to inaugurate the party’s headquarters in the territory and will also interact with leaders and party workers during his visit. The Congress leader will hold series of deliberations with party leaders and workers.

The inauguration of the party headquarters was earlier delayed due to COVID-19. The Congress leadership of IIOJK had approached Gandhi for a short visit, according to the local media reports.

Gandhi will also attend the wedding reception of IIOJK party unit president, Ghulam Ahmed Mir’s son.

On August 5, 2019, Modi-led BJP government had repealed the Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory.
